Production Line

This is a well-known poster of levi’s in 1897.

There is an opinion that each seamstress was sewing the one jeans by themselves at that time (one-man production). However, judging from this picture, it figured out that they were taking a line production system. You can see a pile of jeans next to a seamstress. If she had to make whole jeans only by herself, 1or 2 jeans are the maximum to make in a day. The pile of jeans proves to us that she was just working on her part which in charge.

Line production is much faster to make jeans than one-man production, but instead, jeans lose their uniqueness. It may be that you can’t know unless you work at a denim factory.
